My agent is currently sending my YA ms., SHELTER to publishers.
It's set in a battered women's shelter and involves both domestic and dating violence. The main characters, Miguel Castillo, his sister Ellie, and his mother Mercedes end up in a d.v. shelter when Dad's abuse escalates to a dangerous level. Miguel watches Mom get stronger, Ellie get anxious because her boyfriend Diego is turning into someone like Dad. Miguel wants to help Ellie, but has to keep their overstressed mom out of the loop. Unfortunately, he's terrified of Diego, too!
